The roundabout at Brooks Avenue is under construction. As of Thursday, April 12, the inner ring of the roundabout was in place, and the forms for the outer ring was in place and ready for the concrete. The roundabout is scheduled to be completed next week.

Weekend Street Closure, Starting Friday night, April 20

Starting Friday night, April 20 through Saturday night, April 21, Hillsborough Street will be closed to through traffic while paving and wedging operations take place at both the Brooks Avenue roundabout and the Rosemary/Shepherd Street roundabout.

Nighttime Detour Rescheduled

Due to weather, the gas line relocation work on Daisy Street has been rescheduled to Thursday night, March 22.

PSNC’s contractor, ITS is scheduled to relocate a gas line on Daisy Street, this work will require a nighttime westbound Hillsborough Street lane closure. The contractor is scheduled to close the westbound lane of Hillsborough Street at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, and reopen the road by 6 a.m. on Friday, March 23.

Nighttime Lane Closure

PSNC’s contractor, ITS is scheduled to relocate a gas line on Daisy Street, this work will require a nighttime westbound lane closure. The contractor is scheduled to close the westbound lane of Hillsborough Street at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, and reopen the road by 6 a.m. on Thursday, March 22.

The westbound detour will be Hillsborough Street to Dixie Trail to Wade Avenue to Faircloth Street, to Hillsborough Street. 

New Traffic Pattern

The traffic signals from Brooks Avenue to Rosemary and Shepherd Streets were removed this past weekend. The traffic is now shifted to the outside lanes along the corridor, and the new roundabout pattern is in place at Brooks Avenue and Dixie Trail. The contractor (Pipeline Utilities) is currently working at the roundabout at the Rosemary/Shepherd Street intersection. While construction of this roundabout is underway, the traffic will not utilize the new roundabout configuration, and no left turns will be allowed from either street. 

A section of Daisy Street to Close to Traffic

Due to the rain earlier this week, Daisy Street will remain open until Monday, Feb 5. Pipeline Utilities is focusing their efforts to the paving and reopening of Dixie Trail. 

Beginning on Monday, Feb. 5, Daisy Street will close to traffic as part of the Hillsborough Street Renewal Project. The closure will include the intersection of Hillsborough Street to approximately 170 feet north of the intersection. The street is scheduled to reopen this spring.

Weekend Through Traffic Detour is Scheduled, Starting Jan. 27

Beginning on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 6 a.m., Hillsborough Street between Brooks Avenue and Faircloth Street will be closed to through traffic as part of construction related to the Hillsborough Street Renewal Project. This street is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Jan. 29, at 6 a.m.

Despite the construction, businesses along the Hillsborough Street corridor remain open. Patrons can still visit their favorite restaurant, shop or other business as access to these businesses is being maintained.

 

Dixie Trail to Remain Closed Through January 2018

The contractor has requested an extension for the Dixie Trail closure. Dixie Trial at Hillsborough Street is now scheduled to reopen on February 2, 2018. 

At the time of the original road closure request the storm drain system was being redesigned due to some unforeseen conflicts with the original design. Now that Pipeline Utilities has the new storm drain design the work on Dixie Trail can continue. 

During the closure, the new storm drain system will be installed along with the new curb and gutter and pavement.
