Construction activities are full steam ahead on the north side of Hillsborough Street between Dixie Trail and Gardner Street right now. The sidewalks are a construction zone, and heavy machinery is in front of businesses along this stretch of the street. On the bright side, businesses along the corridor are operating regular hours, and there is access to your favorite establishments during the construction process. Customers may need to park in a different location or take a different route to their favorite businesses but don’t let that keep you away from that tasty sandwich or other services that these shops offer.
We have a made a listing of businesses currently affected by construction activity, and in this posting, we will give you tips and directions for the best ways to access your favorite establishment.
For businesses between Dixie Trail and Bagwell Avenue, there will be a limited number of parking spaces left open in the front, but there is also parking at the rear of the building that is accessible by taking Dixie Trail to Everett Street to Bagwell Avenue. Customers can utilize this parking area for the following businesses, Hangover Grill, Marco’s Pizza, Cutting Edge, Wings Over Raleigh, and Good Guy Vapes.
Construction has the entrance to J & J Auto’s on Bagwell Avenue closed at this time, but there is access off Hillsborough Street to this business.
Checkers Pizza, Subway, and Wolf Mart, all have a limited number of spaces available in the front parking area, but more parking is available at the rear of the building via the driveway next to Wolf Mart.
The State Employees Credit Union will maintain access most of the time from Hillsborough Street. There will be work that needs to pass across the driveway. During this period, access is still available from Brooks Avenue via Gardner Street to Clark Avenue to Brooks Avenue.
Jersey Mikes, FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, and Gumby’s Pizza are all open, and parking is available in the lot. However, the traffic flow into and out of the parking area will change during the different stages of construction.
The construction crews will maintain an entrance to the Man-Mur Barber Shop and Man-Mur Shoe Shop during construction.
Walking to all the businesses along the north side of the street can be a little tricky right now. For your safety, cross the street to access your favorite establishment at cross walks and follow all pedestrian detours to the best of your ability. It is important to note that the sidewalk on the north side of Hillsborough Street is a construction zone, and that brings the risk of injury to anyone not related to the construction work. Please use the recently completed sidewalks on the south side of the street as much as possible for your safety.
