Due to the possibility of rain this weekend and unforeseen problems that have accrued at the Dixie Trail/Friendly Drive roundabout the City and the City’s contractor, Pipeline Utilities, have decided to postpone the street closure scheduled for Friday night, May 4 and Saturday, May 5.
Hillsborough Street will remain open to traffic. However, large trucks cannot use Hillsborough Street at this time. While work is ongoing along the corridor, large trucks are not able to navigate through the corridor without damaging the newly installed concrete and brick sidewalks.
Pipeline Utilities has tentatively rescheduled the road closure for Saturday, May 19. There will be nighttime street closures starting Sunday, May 20, through Thursday, May 24, and then again May 29, through June 3, while paving operations take place along the corridor. These closures will be weather dependent.
We have our last Construction Update Meeting on Tuesday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at East Village Grill & Bar. During the meeting, Project Manager, Richard Dickie will give an update on what to expect as the project comes to a close.
