Hillsborough Street has a new temporary traffic pattern. Traffic is diverted to both the north and the south sides of the street incorporating a middle lane closure between the Digitz Building and Cup a Joe. The center lane closure is required while construction crews install the new sanitary sewer main in that location.
During this traffic shift, there is no on-street parking along the front of the Stanhope Building and Cup a Joe, and there is no left turn from Daisy Street. This work will eventually lead to a full closure of Daisy Street to get the other new services incorporated up this street as part of the Project. Contractors expect this new traffic pattern to be in place for approximately 60 days.
Pipeline Utilities and the City Public Utility crews fixed a leak from an old water service line near Shepherd Street and Piedmont Litho on Wednesday night. The old water service had been capped, but the cap had rusted through causing the leak. The watermain that feeds this service will be abandoned later in the project.
Contractors anticipate switching their construction efforts to the north side of Hillsborough Street this spring. We encourage businesses owners, tenants and residents to attend the upcoming Coffee Talk on March 14, at 10 a.m. at the Stanhope (3001 Hillsborough Street). At the meeting, we will have the traffic control plan available for the public, and our Project Manager, Richard Dickie, will talk about the upcoming construction on the north side and what to expect. We will also be available to answer questions and hear your concerns, so please mark this meeting on your calendar.
