The Hillsborough Street Renewal Project, Phase II is about to start!
Here we are with our first weekly update, and the good news is Pipeline Utilities, Inc. is scheduled to begin work along the corridor this week.
Last week lighted traffic alert message boards were placed at both ends of the construction corridor, one at Shepherd Street and the other at Gardner Street, with the message that construction will start the week of June 20, 2016.
The first sign of construction will include new temporary traffic patterns along the corridor. Contractors will place traffic control devices along the south side of the street, starting at Stanhope Avenue running towards Gardner Street, shifting traffic to the north side of the street. Sidewalks along this section of the project will also be affected, and pedestrian detours will be clearly marked. This work is in preparation for utility relocations and upgrades along the corridor.
Hillsborough Street will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during construction but expect some delays during the construction and remember to check back weekly to keep up to date on construction activities along the corridor.
