The October Coffee Talk was held this past Tuesday, October 18, at the Stanhope. The Stanhope has also graciously agreed to host the December Coffee Talk. Please note that there will not be a Coffee Talk for the month of November, but the event will resume on Tuesday, December 13, at 10 A.M.
This month we were happy to see some new faces in the group, had some good conversations, and brought some ideas back to the office to hopefully enhance our communication efforts with businesses and residents along the corridor.
One of the things we are looking at is a way to get emergency alerts to businesses along the corridor in a fast and expedient way. We are working with the Live It Up group to develop a plan to get emergency messages out to businesses, via a text message shortly.
As Richard pointed out during the meeting, much of this project is the replacement of old underground infrastructure and not something that is seen. However, this work will be extremely beneficial to the street overall.
Contractors are getting close to having most of the underground work complete along the corridor’s south side, and this winter and early spring the new sidewalks and other enhancements planned for the corridor will be underway on that side of the street.
This week crews are installing a new 8-inch watermain on Friendly Avenue, and crews are also installing an 8-inch watermain and fire hydrant on the private drive across from Bagwell Street. Sanitary sewer work continues along the corridor from Concord Street running west towards Stanhope Avenue, and the temporary traffic signal work continues at the intersection of Friendly Drive/Dixie Trail.
