Lane Closures on Hillsborough Street!

Duke Energy Progress will install three street lights on Thursday, August 23. The installation will require closing the westbound lane of Hillsborough Street to traffic through the Shepherd Street roundabout and the entrance to Hillsborough Street from Brooks Avenue.

Traffic traveling from Brooks Avenue to Hillsborough Street will be detoured to Vanderbilt Avenue to Gardner Street to Hillsborough Street.

Street Closure Update

Posted Monday, June 25

Today, Monday, June 25, crews are working on the side streets, grinding out old pavement markings and installing the new ones. As of noon, the team had finished Brooks Avenue and were moving to Rosemary Street. Crews will close the side streets temporarily to install the new pavement markings.

There will be one more road closure required this week. Crews are scheduled to complete the pavement markings on Wednesday night, June 27. 

Side Street Closures Start Monday, June 11

Starting Monday, June 11, through Wednesday, June 13, there will be intermittent street closures of the side streets along the construction corridor while the milling and paving take place.

Final Paving

Posted Friday, June 1

Starting on Sunday night, June 3, through Tuesday night, June 5, milling and paving operations will resume along Hillsborough Street. The street will be closed from Gardener Street to Faircloth Street while this work takes place.

Nightly Street Closures for Final Paving

Starting Sunday night, May 20, through Thursday, May 24, a series of nighttime street closures are scheduled while the final paving operations take place on the westbound lane.

Sunday night, June 3, through Thursday night, June 7, a series of nighttime street closures are scheduled for final paving operations to take place on the eastbound lane of the street.

Roundabout News

The Dixie Trail roundabout can’t be opened into the full roundabout pattern until after the paving and wedging operations are completed. Opening the roundabout in its current state would be dangerous to vehicular travel due to the height of the curb walls. The Dixie Trail roundabout will be in full operation once paving and wedging take place.

Weekend Hillsborough Street Closure Postponed

Due to the possibility of rain this weekend and unforeseen problems that have accrued at the Dixie Trail/Friendly Drive roundabout the City and the City’s contractor, Pipeline Utilities, have decided to postpone the street closure scheduled for Friday night, May 4 and Saturday, May 5. 

Hillsborough St Traffic Alert!

The City’s contractor, Pipeline Utilities, is scheduled to complete the Dixie Trail roundabout at the end of this week. The completion of the Dixie/Friendly roundabout will require a weekend road closure, as significant wedging/paving operations take place. Pipeline Utilities has scheduled a road closure for through traffic on Friday night, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, to complete this task.

Traffic Alert and Update

The roundabout at Brooks Avenue is under construction. As of Thursday, April 12, the inner ring of the roundabout was in place, and the forms for the outer ring was in place and ready for the concrete. The roundabout is scheduled to be completed next week.
